Certified Financial Planner
CFP® certificants have met rigorous professional standards to offer objective financial planning advice.
To earn the CFP marks you must:
- Complete a CFP Board approved financial planning curriculum and have at least 36 months of relevant experience.
- Pass a comprehensive two-day, 10-hour exam that covers the financial planning process, tax planning, employee benefits and retirement planning, estate planning, investment management and insurance.
- Agree to abide by a strict code of professional conduct.
- Complete 30 hours of continuing education every two years.

Chartered Financial Analyst
CFA® charterholders are globally recognized professionals who have demonstrated a commitment to integrity and investment expertise.
To earn the CFA Charter you must:
- Have a bachelor’s degree and four years of qualifying work experience.
- Sequentially pass three six-hour exams that cover a broad body of investing knowledge.
- Initially and each subsequent year, agree to comply with the Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct.

NAPFA Registered Financial Advisor
NAPFA-Registered Financial Advisors are broadly trained to bring together and apply the separate disciplines comprising personal finance.
NAPFA Registered Financial Advisors must:
- Abide by a fiduciary standard and provide advice across disciplines.
- Work on a fee-only basis.
- Submit a peer reviewed financial plan or case.
- Have a Bachelor’s degree, and 36 months of relevant experience.
- Complete 60 hours of continuing education every two years.
